In my work as a veterinarian, I understand the many health benefits of having a working animal. I also understand the importance and need to partner and collaborate with a multitude of healthcare professionals that manage the medical needs of a disabled person.

The future of healthcare lies in successful collaborations from many different medical disciplines. In the use of animals as a treatment option, it is imperative to develop a multidisciplinary healthcare team that collaborates and coordinates the contributions of the veterinary profession to improve patient outcomes.

At Assistance Animals Consulting, we are veterinarians, recognized experts uniquely qualified to serve the community by providing resources for education, behavioral understanding, and guidance regarding working animals. Our veterinarians are here to collaborate with all individuals involved in managing the care of a disabled person using a working animal as a life line.

In 1990 the United States of America first recognized the value and importance of service animals to the citizens who lived with a variety of disabilities with the passing of the American with Disabilities Act. Prior to the ADA’s passing the only legally recognized service animal in the US were guide dogs.
